Another thing I often see…is “dancing” and “music” being grouped in with the many stereotypes of the Rroma. Or, that dancing and musicianship is romanticism.
It is not.
We are a people with music in our blood. Love of music, music as spirituality, music as communion with God. We are a people who have never failed to play our sorrows, and our laughter on the strings of a guitar, or with spoons on the top of a bucket. Music is the constant.
All the pain, the hatred, the bigotry, the pograms, the intolerance…we are still here, and we are still singing, and we are still playing. And we always will be.
All of the time, here on Tumblr and elsewhere…I see Rromani people saying its not our jobs to educate the gadze on our culture.
Its not. It isnt our job.
But, how can we expect anything to change if WE do not STAND UP and tell the truth, and educate others about our culture?…
The way I see it is….
I am here to give the information that I WANT to give…I am not required to give any information, much less information that I feel would be misused in the hands of the gadze. I feel as if I can give the information I want…..and then it is up to them. I have educated them, and they are no longer ignorant.
But if they CHOOSE to be stupid..thats on them.
(This may sound harsh…but its just the truth. There ARE so many gadze that, upon gaining knowledge of the Rroma..or ANYTHING…make the choice to be stupid. ::shrugs. I love teaching others about my culture…but I teach what I want to teach, and past that….its up to the gadze to use the information for good…its not my job to teach, but I do so out of pure love of my culture and a deep desire to change stereotypes…and past me putting in this work, I cannot change the heart of the gadze. Thats up to them.)
Sorry, I was walking a round when I recorded this. So I am sort of out of breath.

Sure, we can sit about and hope that the gadze heed our advice and ‘google’ Rroma. Even then, there is a barrage of hate, bigotry, and misinformation out there just waiting to be read..just waiting to perpetuate the cycle.
I am very concerned with the future of my people, here, and especially in Europe. Nothing is going to change if we just lay down and expect others to do the work. They arent, lol. Its really time to stand up and start TELLING PEOPLE WHO WE ARE. And most importantly..WHO WE ARE NOT.
Luckily I absolutely love pointing out misinformation and educating people on the reality of the Rromani peoples.
God Forbid they go on YouTube to find a video of us and read the comments…and get ‘educated’ there.
Comment I just got on YouTube:
GET… THE… FUCK… OUT, back to the niggerized backwaters of India, where you originally came from. Take your pickpocketing bastards and syphilis there with you. NKVism3 35 minutes ago

Today my mother told me something I never knew.
She told me that as a child, a young child, people often teased her and asked why her mother was dirt colored. My uncle (my mothers brother) who died in a car accident when I was 3, was the “darkest” of the children. My mom said that kids often teased him, especially in the summer, when all of the children, and my grandmother, got the darkest.
My mom said her response was “Because she hangs clothes out all summer long.”
