There is no such thing as books over blood..as our blood is our blood and will be so no matter what anyone says, no matter what family we leave behind, no matter what other smartass Rroma say about being “kicked out” of familija.

If we Rroma entertain the idea that getting an education makes us less Rroma..then we feed into the belief that being a Rroma or “Gypsy” is something one can be by living a certain lifestyle. I would love to figure out what dialect of Rromani I speak. I mean, I am not, by any means, fluent in Rromani. But, what I thought was Kalderas….is not. Anyone who is familiar with Rromani dialects feel free to contact me. Here are a few words:
dzucel = dog
momkosh= boy
caj (chai) = girl
bibatalipe = fortune (beda, also). Bahtalo is more…happy..like being happy.
losnipe (loshnipe) = bad fortune.
cestitka (chestitka) = hello..or..upon greeting someone
sovavno/indravno = tired
meribe = death.
And instead of anav…I know alav..well I know both, technically. Anav/Alav is name.
