This happened a while ago, but look…another Black person has lost their life due to a racist system. A system pitted against them at every turn. 

This womans home was lost in a tornado, as a result, she became homeless and her children were taken out of her custody and put into her mothers custody. Anna Brown went to the hospital complaining of severe leg pain. The doctors judged her, said shewas a drug addict (despite being drug tested 3 or more times with negative results), and a bum looking for a place to sleep. They said she was fine, and called the police. This is when the video begins. She has to be dragged out of the hospital, and once in police custody at the local jail, she is brought into a room with THREE beds…but is laid on the floor. There, she cries, and moans in pain until the blood clot that was IN HER LEG makes it to her lungs and kills her. 

This is not an isolated incident. Trayvon is not an isolated incident. These are a part of a collective issue in this country where people of color are NOT treated as equals. This is a part of a collective issue about a racist society that supports the ideology of white superiority, and uses this ideology to HURT and even KILL people of color around every turn. This is part a collective issue where people of color are failed by the systems that are put in to help people like this woman. This is America. This is not an isolated incident.

“Black pain ridiculousness.” So, on Facebook someone said that Rihanna is an idiot. They were victim blaming, and I jumped in and had to start ripping shit up. I made a remark about how common it is for women (of all races) to downplay and trivialize black womens pain. Well, a white woman jumped in and basically said she had no sympathy for Rihanna because Rihanna didnt deal with her abuse the way the woman wanted her to. The woman claims to be a survivor of domestic abuse but “chooses not to be a victim.” She called Rihanna a “twat” and went on to say that she reserves her sympathy for a certain kind of woman. Basically, a woman who deals with their situation in a way that SHE (white lady) approves of.  She also said the following things: “  I couldn’t give a flying fuck about Rihanna being or not being a victim.” ”  All I said was that I am in my right mind to judge her LYRICAL content, which is slutty and damn right disgusting of her ” (slut shaming too?) “  Listen to you! No white person can feel a black persons pain?!!!! Pain in what? Are all black people in the world experiencing pain?! Are you their saviour, their preacher? And for the record, I am a SURVIVOR of domestic abuse. I chose not to be a victim.” (My response to this was:  In America its not easy to be black. Im not sure if you didnt know that. When the survivors of the middle passage stepped foot off of those boats they were mentally, and physically broken and that breaking is still going on in many ways as racism is woven into the fabric of this nation. I am not anyones savior, but im not gonna sit back with my white privilege and be silent. So you, as a survivor should know better than ANYONE that its not YOUR job or your right to try and police how another victim should deal with her pain. Youve called her a twat and insinuated that you have no sympathy for her because she didnt deal with her situation the way you WANTED her to.) More gems from her: “ I am better than her haha!”  But this one was what struck me: “  I DON’T LIKE THE SONG! I DON’T NEED MY LIFE ENLIGHTENED BY DETAILS OF ORAL SEX! I DON’T CARE FOR A CELEBRITY’S DOMESTIC PROBLEMS BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW HER. THIS IS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE! COMPRENDE? Whereas I don’t normally retaliate with such aggression and rudeness, I’m bored by you and your ridiculous notions of black pain and healing and whatever bullshit you’re spouting about some one you have never met or even know: FUCK OFF!” Ill put a screen cap up at the top. The black community does seem to get really butt hurt when anyone but their own says the word nigger but it can hardly be considered hate speech unless we start punishing black folks for saying it.  The thing about any law is that it is universally applied regardless of circumstances but a jury can nullify the law if it feels the law is unjust.  Clearly the term nigger does not fall into the category of hate speech just like gearhead doesn’t.  I use the term gearhead among my peers so bitching about someone outside my mechanic clique using it is foolish, wrong & unjust.
