hello, im lulu

džulory ladžala: Word of the Day:

chaje-shukarije:

my-journey-my-thoughts:

I picked today’s word because, honestly, it made me laugh, and now it makes sense why this word is used as slang:

Snake, in Chicanere, is schlong. I am not even kidding…But knowing this now, it completely makes sense why it’s slang for penis.

sap and sapinka for us!

Todays word is: sick.

Nambormo….or I think a more popular word for sick or ill is nasvalo

I am quite sick today. My throat is swollen and halfway closed, and my body aches. I dont get sick often, but this is the second time this year ive felt so badly. I am quite the home-body…meaning I dont get out often and I never drink. This week I got drunk twice and went out like every single night so..lol..needless to say I think I overexerted myself but FUCK IT! It was for a great cause!

(if youre reblogging this for the word of the day..feel free to delete my little input at the end there, lol)

džulory ladžala: Rromanes Word of the Day

wewanttobe:

mandapolos:

I haven’t seen many of these around lately so I thought I’d chime in with one of the few basic words I do know. I don’t know the dialect, sorry in advance.

Baxt is a word that I and my family use to mean luck, or fortune.

Baxtalo is a happy, lucky feeling,…

Ive been really slacking on my Rromani word of the days…been sooo tired lately.

Anyhow, bakht and bakhtalo are universal Rromani words, I think. As Qristina (Golden-Zephyr) said.

We say Bakhtale or Bakhtalipa…but sreca is also used for “luck” and losnipe is badluck.

džulory ladžala: Romani Word of the Day

golden-zephyr:

I don’t know if there was one, I didn’t see one (maybe there was and I missed it… I’m sorry!!)

I’m going to do several words today (as suggested by my sis Ruby)

COLOURS~

Yellow - either galbeno or žuto (Gurbet) / žiltò (Lotfitka) / gelbera or gelbi (Anglo-Romani)

Green - zeleno (zelija)…

Oops I forgot to do one today!!

Alrightie lets see here…..

Yellow: Žuto

Green: zeleno

Blue: Plavo

Red: Lolo

Orange: Narandža

Black: Kalo

White: Parno

The colors seem to be pretty much the same! With the exception of ‘orange’ which is..extremely similar to the Spanish: Naranja!

džulory ladžala: Rromani (Rromanes) word of the day!

helloimlulu:

I am going to try to keep up with this, because I want us all to take part!! I am not fluent in Rromani, but I am conversational and I would like that to change.

From what I know, the dialect of Rromani that I am familiar with is either Bugurdzi or Arli (Kosovo) dialect. I…

Another word we have for sleepy is sovauno..or..according to romlex its “sovavno” but..to me it sounds like sovauvo? Maybe I am wrong. Anyway…id like to read up on why there are so many Rromani dialects and how they came to be what they are. Do you know any books that discuss things like that? Like…

How do you go from lindralo….to sovavno? Lol. Those are like two totally opposite ends..but then we have cino, khino, etc that are exactly the same!? I know that Serbian is sooo similar to Bugurdzi and Arli. Some of the words are exactly the same.

Well, I guess we just picked up words from surrounding dialects, all while keeping and maintaining many of our own…all across the board.

From what I know, the dialect of Rromani that I am familiar with is either Bugurdzi or Arli (Kosovo) dialect. I apologize I am not entirely sure which.

Today, I am very tired and sleepy! So I will choose the word “tired.”

 Umorno!

Tired is ‘umorno!’ (oo-more-no).

*I often use ‘umorno’ to describe being VERY tired. So, as a side note I will include ‘sleepy’ which is khino (kh-ee-no).

I would love to figure out what dialect of Rromani I speak. I mean, I am not, by any means, fluent in Rromani. But, what I thought was Kalderas….is not. Anyone who is familiar with Rromani dialects feel free to contact me. Here are a few words:

dzucel = dog
momkosh= boy
caj (chai) = girl
bibatalipe = fortune (beda, also). Bahtalo is more…happy..like being happy.
losnipe (loshnipe) = bad fortune.
cestitka (chestitka) = hello..or..upon greeting someone
sovavno/indravno = tired
meribe = death.

And instead of anav…I know alav..well I know both, technically. Anav/Alav is name.

Interested in any other words, phrases, etc, feel free to ask.
